“What’s for dinner?”
Hearing this every moment of every day, will really knock a person back into reality. I try to remember, how often I asked my Mum and wonder if it’s karma. But I genuinely do not remember ALWAYS talking about food. Where I am convinced it is literally all my kids talk about. I love them dearly, but my creativity levels are being stretched. I am constantly researching new recipes to try and new places that we can safely eat out at.
All my children have allergies or intolerances and I developed some myself, after having my second child.
Navigating allergies and intolerances, also made me REALLY grow up. Having to continuously liaise between our doctors and school nurses, regarding the safety of my children. Having to receive calls, whilst at work – to answer questions the school already have answers to. Having to miss out on work events because my dietary requirements are not being met. Having to always carry food or snacks, for my children or myself. These moments remind me that I am an adult.
Food.
The subject of food.
Changes to my palette.
Changes to my body.
If I had the chance, I would visit 2019 and let my former self know she needs to eat EVERYTHING – all throughout the year. As 2020 was my version of Doomsday.
